Margaret: Don't let them talk the East End down | |
I come from an ordinary hard working Glasgow family. My three sisters and I were brought up in the East End. My husband Rab is from Easterhouse and we’ve passed on our passion for Glasgow to our two sons Christopher and David The poverty in my early days angered me and I wanted to change the world. In fact I still do. So I became a welfare rights officer, a community worker in Parkhead and then the MSP for Baillieston. I know the East End and care about it deeply. I’m proud of this part of Glasgow and I’m sick and tired of hearing people talk it down. We remember how the Tories devastated our city in the 1980’s and, unlike the SNP candidate, I never want to see those days return. Of course there’s much more to be done and that’s why we need an MP who will roll their sleeves up, get on with the job, and fight for the East End. I’ll never, ever take you for granted and will always stand up for the East End.
